Time tracking and billing
Log time on issues as you work, review your week in your timesheet, and, as a workspace admin, turn the team's hours into time reports and invoices for your clients.
Log time on an issue
- Open the issue and click Log work (in the details, under Time tracking).
- Enter the Time spent, for example
45m,1h 30mor1d. A day counts as 8 hours, a week as 5 days. - Pick the Date and, if your workspace uses billing activities, what you worked on.
- Save.
The issue shows the time spent next to its Estimate, with a progress bar. Every entry appears in the issue's Work log tab and its history.
Focus timer
In My Work → My Day, press ▶ on an issue to start a timer. It shows in the top bar on every page and keeps running across tabs and devices. When you stop it, you review the time (change it if you took a break, add a note) before it's logged on the issue.
Your timesheet
Open Timesheet in the sidebar. My timesheet shows your week with day and week totals.
- Log time adds an entry on an issue or a project.
- Click an entry to edit or delete it.
Only you and the workspace admins see your entries.
Billing (workspace admins)
Workspace admins find Billing in the sidebar. It has five tabs:
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Reports | Build a time report or an invoice for a client and period |
| Time | Everyone's logged time for any period |
| Clients | The companies you bill |
| Activities | What your team bills, and at what price |
| Settings | Currency, VAT, rounding, company and bank details, logo |
Prices, clients and reports are visible only to workspace admins. Members see the activities and their own hours, never rates.
Set up
- Settings: your currency, VAT (net or gross), rounding, your company and bank details and your logo.
- Activities: define what you bill, per hour (e.g. Programming, €120/h) or as a fixed price (e.g. Setup, €450). Pick a default activity per issue type; it's preselected when people log time.
- Clients: add the companies you bill, with address, VAT ID and their own VAT rate. Assign their projects on the client page or in Project settings → General → Client.
Review the team's time
Time lists everyone's logged time, last month by default. Filter by project, client, person, activity or billable, group by ticket, person, activity or day, and export exactly that view to Excel.
Create a report or invoice
- Open Reports and start a new report for a client and period. Switch to invoice mode for an invoice.
- Check the live preview of net, VAT and total. Leave single entries out and show or hide names and notes.
- Finalize the report. Its hours are then locked so nothing is billed twice; fixed prices are charged once per ticket, and invoices get the next consecutive number.
- Download it as an A4 PDF or Excel file, or send the PDF to your client by email. Replies come back to you.
Track a finalized report as sent or paid, or void it to make the hours billable again.
