Feedback portal

A feedback portal is a public page where your customers share ideas, vote for the ones they want and follow what happens to them. You decide what appears, set a status, and turn good ideas into cards on your board.

Each project can have one portal, at an address like …/feedback/your-product.

Turn the portal on

You need to be a project admin.

  1. Open the project and click Feedback in the quick links at the top.
  2. Under Settings, tick Portal is public.
  3. Set a Title, the Public address (the part after /feedback/) and an optional Introduction.
  4. Click Save settings.

Use the copy button to copy the public link, or open the portal to see it as your customers do.

TIP

Only the idea's title, description, votes and your public status note are shown publicly. Card details, comments and assignees never appear on the portal.

What your customers do

Anyone can read the published ideas, search them, and sort by Top or New. A Roadmap view shows the ideas that are Planned, Building and Released.

To share an idea, vote or follow, people sign in with just their email — no password and no Brainitive account:

  1. They click Sign in (or Sign in to share an idea) and enter their email address.
  2. Brainitive emails them a sign-in link. The link works once and for 30 minutes.
  3. Back on the portal they can Share an idea (a title and an optional description), vote, and Follow an idea.

While they type a title, the portal shows Similar ideas — vote for one instead?, which keeps duplicates down. New ideas are reviewed before they appear.

Followers get an email when the status of an idea changes, with a link to stop following.

Moderate ideas

On the project's Feedback page, ideas are sorted into Waiting for review, Published, Rejected and Merged. For a new idea:

  • Approve – it appears on the portal.
  • Reject – it stays hidden.

For published ideas you can:

  • Public status – set Open, Planned, Building, Released or Declined, with an optional Public note, and click Update status. Followers get one email per status.
  • Duplicate? – Merge into… another published idea. Votes and followers move to that idea.
  • Card – Create card on a board, or Link an existing issue by its key (for example WEB-12), so you can track the work.

You get a notification when a new idea waits for review (category Feedback portal in your notification settings).
