Notifications

Brainitive tells you when you're mentioned, assigned, when something you watch changes, and when customers write in. You choose per topic whether a notification shows in the app, as a push notification or by email.

The bell

The bell in the top bar shows how many unread notifications you have. It rings the moment something arrives. Click it to open a panel with four tabs:

TabShows
AllEverything, grouped by Today, Yesterday, This week and Older
UnreadWhat you haven't read yet
MentionsWhere someone @mentioned you
AssignedIssues, tickets and leads assigned to you

Click a notification to open the item right where you are; it is marked as read. Hover a notification to mark it read or unread, or archive it. Mark all read clears the badge. Open inbox opens the full page; the gear icon opens your notification settings.

Reading a notification in one tab updates the bell in all your other tabs too.

The inbox

Click Inbox in the sidebar for the full list, with the same tabs. Here you can also:

  • Tick several notifications (or all loaded ones) and Mark read, Mark unread or Archive them at once.
  • Turn on Show archived to see archived notifications and Unarchive them. Archived notifications are kept for 90 days.

Every email from Brainitive has a Manage notifications link at the bottom that brings you straight here.

Fewer emails at once. When several things happen for you within a minute (assignments, comments, mentions, status changes, page and sprint updates), Brainitive waits that minute and sends one email per workspace listing all of them, each with a link. The bell and push notifications still arrive instantly. Sign-in, security, invitation, helpdesk, booking and other time-critical emails are never held back.

Morning task summary

Below the table, Morning task summary sends you one summary at 8:00 of your list tasks that are due today or overdue. Click Turn off if you don't want it.

Push notifications

Push notifications appear on your desktop or phone even when Brainitive isn't open.

  1. In Profile settings → Notifications, click Turn on (or Register this device) and allow notifications when the browser asks.
  2. Click Send test notification to check that it works.

Turn it on in every browser and on every device where you want notifications.

iPhone and iPad

Push notifications only work in the Home Screen app (iOS 16.4 or later): in Safari tap Share → Add to Home Screen, open Brainitive from there and turn notifications on.

Your devices

Your devices lists every browser that receives your notifications, with when it last got one and any error. A device that's missing here gets nothing — open Brainitive there and turn notifications on.

  • Send test sends a test to that device. If it's accepted but nothing shows up, Brainitive lists what to check for Windows, macOS, iPhone and Android (for example Focus or Do not disturb).
  • Expired means the browser dropped the subscription (after clearing site data, reinstalling or revoking permission). Register that browser again.
  • Remove stops notifications to a device.

WARNING

Push notifications need a secure (HTTPS) address. On a self-hosted instance your administrator also has to set up push keys — see Configuration.

Watching

You automatically watch issues you created or are assigned to. Use the watch option on an issue, page or task list to follow (or stop following) other things.
